Soul Food Cinema was created in 2007. Prior to working on this website I had worked as an economist and researcher for several UK government organisations. In October of 2007 when my latest contract came to an end I decided not to pursue work elsewhere, but instead, having had the idea of Soul Food Cinema at the back of mind for some years, I decided to take three months off work to create this website.

Three months soon turned into a year as I began to realise that if the site is to be a success, it will be as a full-time venture or not at all. In the past year, living off of limited savings and the charity of family of friends, with the generous technical help of my brother (a previous professional website designer), I have been able to put together the website you now see. At present I am working with two colleagues to develop the design and technical aspects of the site further, and am seeking philanthropic-funding for Soul Food Cinema in order to help establish a solid user-base for the website.
