Earlier this year (January 15th 2008), The Vatican's Official Newspaper L'Osservatore Romano published an article on Harry Potter entitled 'Opinioni a Confronto sul Maghetto più Famoso del Mondo: Il Doppio Volto di Harry Potter' ('A Comparison of Opinions on the Most Famous Wizard in the World: The Double Face of Harry Potter').
The article was widely reported on both in the Catholic as well as Secular press. However, as is so often the case, only one side of the story was reported on in most of these publications.
The following pages provide an English translation of this article (made up of two essays) so that you may judge for yourself whether the attention the essay speaking out against Harry Potter received, was deserved or not.
Please note that as with the conversion of any text from one language into another, this translation is not perfect.
Many thanks and blessings go to Federico Bianco, without whom this translation would not have come to fruition.
