Synopsis

On the eve of the Civil War, beautiful Scarlett O'Hara (Vivien Leigh) is devastated when she learns that the man she loves plans to marry her cousin. At a barbeque the next day, Scarlett meets Rhett Butler (Clark Gable), a roguish man who matches Scarlett both in strength and character. Their meeting begins an epic love story that changes the course of Scarlett's life, taking her from the luxury and innocence of her youth to the poverty and destruction of a bloody war.

  Opinion: Recommended
This is Hollywod at its most melodramatic and magnificent. People can say what they like but the characterization and plotting flattens all in its wake. Expensive for its time, it has every dollar evident on the screen.
