If you do a small job well, it makes a big difference
  Mark Banks (United Kingdom)
  Opinion: Recommended

I'm not too sure what I was expecting when I sat down to watch Bee Movie, but affirmation for where I'm at in life right now wasn't high on the list. However, with the simple repeated catchphrase "if you do a small job well, it makes a big difference", affirmation for the things I'm doing in life is exactly what I got. It's neither Shakespeare nor Nietzsche, but it's simple and it's true. And the rest of the film? The rest of the film was good I thought. It retained enough originality over the plethora of other animated bug and animal movies for me to give it a green 'recommended', though perhaps not quite enough humour or characterisation for it to break through into my top-100 family films. I liked the subtext (albeit rather an overt subtext) of the film that reminded us that all life is precious and also that the environmental consequences of tampering with even the smallest things in the ecosystem could have huge consequences for all life on earth. Parents may like to remind children of the make-believe nature of Bee Movie in which male bees make honey and have a rather odd way of 'sprinkle' fertilising flowers, not to mention the male cow, but nevertheless this remains a film that most kids will enjoy and more than a few adults will be able to take something from too.
